A search for this issue shows a number of other people having trouble with Windows Update, but it seems that everyone else is able to resolve by performing one or more of the above items. I let it sit for five hours, and still nothing. ![]() When you launch IE6 and go to Tools->Windows Update, it asks you if you want "Express" or "Custom" updates, and regardless of what you click, it will then show "Checking for the latest updates for your computer." with an indeterminate progress bar that just loads forever. It's a completely fresh image, not a single thing was done to it besides filling out information like username, timezone, etc. I have an MSI Wind U100 Netbook that I reset back to factory defaults, and I'm trying to run Windows Update.
